New Edubiase, Ashanti Region – As part of ongoing efforts to heavily fortify public health defense and boost routine immunization, the Adansi South District Assembly, in partnership with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has launched a comprehensive training program for all Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) service providers within the district.
This critical capacity-building training comes on the heels of recent targeted health interventions in the district, including the reactive Mpox vaccination exercise carried out in partnership with public health teams from Kumasi Asokwa.
The training is designed to equip local frontline health workers, community nurses, and disease control officers with the latest skills in vaccine management, cold chain maintenance, injection safety, and effective community engagement. A major focus of the session is strengthening local surveillance networks to ensure early detection, rapid reporting, and immediate containment of vaccine-preventable diseases like Mpox, measles, and yellow fever.
The Adansi South District Assembly emphasizes that updating the skills of EPI providers is essential to ensuring that every neighborhood and community has access to safely managed, high-quality immunization services.
The District Health Directorate assures the general public nationwide that health teams are highly trained, vigilant, and fully equipped to protect public health. Residents are encouraged to continue supporting local health workers, ensure their children’s routine immunizations are up to date, and promptly report any unusual health symptoms to the nearest facility.
