ADANSI SOUTH DISTRICT DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT HAS CONDUCTED A MONITORING EXERCISE ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMUNITY CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTEE (CCPC) AT KOTWEA AS PART OF EFFORTS TO STRENGTHEN CHILD PROTECTION SYSTEMS WITHIN THE DISTRICT

MONITORING REPORT ON COMMUNITY CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTEE (CCPC) ACTIVITIES – KOTWEA

The Adansi South District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has conducted a monitoring exercise on the activities of the Community Child Protection Committee (CCPC) at Kotwea as part of efforts to strengthen child protection systems within the district.

The purpose of the monitoring was to assess the performance of the CCPC in promoting and safeguarding the welfare and rights of children in the community, in line with national child protection policies.

Findings from the exercise indicate that the CCPC has been actively involved in community sensitisation on child rights and responsibilities, identification and referral of vulnerable children, reporting of child abuse cases, and collaboration with key stakeholders such as traditional authorities, schools, and social welfare officers.

The Committee has also played a key role in educating parents and guardians on the importance of proper childcare, school attendance, discipline, and the prevention of child neglect, abuse, and exploitation.

However, the monitoring exercise also identified challenges such as limited logistics, inadequate resources, and occasional delays in the referral of cases to the appropriate authorities.

The Department recommends continuous capacity building for CCPC members, improved logistical support, and stronger collaboration with relevant institutions to enhance effective child protection delivery at the community level.

The Adansi South District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development remains committed to strengthening community-based structures to ensure the protection, safety, and well-being of all children within the district.
