EPA AND AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT RIPARIAN TREE PLANTING – PRA RIVER
A joint field exercise was undertaken by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Agriculture Department of the Adansi South District Assembly at a riparian site along the Pra River. The activity formed part of ongoing environmental conservation and landscape restoration efforts in the district.
The exercise focused on tree planting along the riverbank to restore degraded areas, protect water bodies, and reduce the impact of erosion and pollution. The initiative also aims to improve biodiversity and strengthen climate resilience within surrounding communities.
Officers from both institutions engaged community members and emphasized the importance of protecting riverbanks through sustainable land-use practices. Indigenous and fast-growing tree species were planted to help stabilize the soil and restore the natural vegetation along the Pra River.
The EPA highlighted the need for continuous community participation in safeguarding water resources, while the Agriculture Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting environmental restoration activities that complement agricultural sustainability.
The exercise reflects a collaborative effort to protect the Pra River ecosystem and promote long-term environmental stewardship in the Adansi South District.
