SELECTION AND VERIFICATION OF 2025 RIPARIAN SITES BY MOFA, EPA AND FSD
The Adansi South District Agriculture Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Forestry Services Division (FSD), has conducted a joint field exercise for the selection and verification of 2025 riparian buffer sites within the district.
The exercise formed part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, and restoration of degraded water bodies. The technical team visited identified locations to assess their suitability as riparian zones and ensure compliance with environmental conservation standards.
During the field visit, stakeholders examined vegetation cover, proximity to water bodies, and human activities along riverbanks. Communities were also engaged and sensitized on the importance of protecting riparian buffers to prevent erosion, flooding, and water pollution.
Farmers and landowners in the selected areas were encouraged to support the initiative by avoiding farming and other activities close to riverbanks, and to adopt environmentally friendly practices that promote long-term land sustainability.
The collaborative exercise demonstrated strong inter-agency coordination aimed at safeguarding natural resources and promoting climate resilience within the district.
The Adansi South District Agriculture Department remains committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure sustainable land use and environmental protection for present and future generations.
