NCCE ENGAGES PRASO ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH ON ELECTORAL LAWS
In September 2024, the Adansi South Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) visited the Praso Roman Catholic Church to sensitise members on electoral laws ahead of the general elections.
The engagement focused on educating congregants on key provisions governing the electoral process, as well as actions that constitute infringements of these laws. Members were taken through issues such as electoral offences, the importance of adhering to laid-down regulations, and the role of citizens in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections.
The Directorate emphasised the need for all eligible voters to conduct themselves responsibly before, during, and after the elections. Participants were cautioned against acts such as vote-buying, intimidation, and any form of electoral malpractice that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
In addition, the session sought to whip up the interest of members to actively participate in the elections by exercising their right to vote. They were encouraged to turn out in their numbers on election day and contribute to strengthening Ghana’s democracy through peaceful and lawful participation.
The interactive nature of the programme allowed members to ask questions and gain clarity on electoral processes, reinforcing their understanding of their civic responsibilities.
The NCCE Adansi South Directorate continues to intensify its public education efforts across religious institutions, communities, and media platforms to promote informed participation and uphold democratic values.
