ADANSI SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY AND GHANA HEALTH SERVICE LAUNCH TUBERCULOSIS (TB) CATCH-UP EXERCISE AT KWAME ADU

Kwame Adu, Adansi South District – In a determined effort to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) and improve community wellness, the Adansi South District Assembly, in close collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has launched an intensive TB Catch-Up Campaign at Kwame Adu.

The targeted public health exercise is currently ongoing.

This localized campaign is designed to bring vital health screening, testing, and education directly to the doorstep of residents in and around the Kwame Adu community. The “Catch-Up” initiative focuses on identifying undetected TB cases, providing free diagnostic testing, and immediately linking any affected individuals to free, life-saving treatment.

This campaign is part of a broader, aggressive healthcare strategy by the Adansi South District Assembly to strengthen community-level health surveillance and combat infectious diseases.

Health authorities emphasize that Tuberculosis is completely curable, and the medications provided by the government are entirely free. The District Assembly and local traditional leaders strongly urge all residents of Kwame Adu and neighboring communities to cooperate fully with the visiting health teams and participate in the screening.

Key Symptoms to Note: The general public is reminded to look out for the following key symptoms of TB and report for screening immediately:

  • A cough that has lasted for two weeks or more

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Excessive sweating at night, even when the weather is cool

  • Persistent fever and chest pains

The Adansi South District Health Directorate assures the public that all screenings are confidential, safe, and handled by experienced medical professionals. Let us protect our families and clear TB out of our communities.
