To ensure that the infection and spread of HIV/AIDS is reduced in Adansi South District, representatives from the Ghana AIDS Commission and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council HIV/AIDS Representative inaugurated the Adansi South District HIV/AIDS committee on Friday November 12, 2021.
Addressing the members of the committee, Hon. Francis Kwabena Ankomah said that, the current prevalence rate of HIV infection in the country is very alarming with over 342,000 people living with the virus. He called on the government with all stakeholders in the fight against the spread of the disease especially Ghana AIDS Commission, the MMDAs, and all the implementing partners to make available the needed resources to help in the fight against the spread of the virus in the country. Hon. Francis Kwabena Ankomah also advocated for intensive public sensitization, increase in testing and treatment and reduction of stigmatization of people living with HIV/AIDS and promised that the Committee will collaborate with all the relevant stakeholders in the district to implement effectively the various policies as far as HIV/AIDS is concerned in the Adansi South District.
The Committee was sworn into office by Mrs. Olivia Graham, a representative of the Ghana AIDS Commission.
