In continuation of the Adansi South District Assembly’s district-wide campaign to promote creative arts, indigenous heritage, and cultural education in basic schools, the District Culture Unit—led by District Cultural Officer Mavis Asamoah—conducted an official monitoring and supervisory visit to Wuruyie Primary & JHS.
The exercise focused on evaluating the school’s cultural troupe, mentoring student performers across both primary and junior high levels, and providing technical support to patron teachers ahead of upcoming district cultural festivals.

During the session at Wuruyie Primary & JHS, Mavis Asamoah and the cultural supervisory team engaged with school management, patron teachers, and troupe members:

Primary & JHS Performance Evaluation: The team observed combined and level-specific rehearsals, assessing pupils and students on traditional dance steps (Adowa, Kete, and Bawa), drumming synchronization, and vocal harmonies.

Choreography and Stagecraft Coaching: Direct technical guidance was provided to refine stage formations, entry and exit transitions, posture, and dramatic expressions to elevate the overall quality of performances.

Cultural Authenticity & Costume Assessment: Guidance was shared on selecting appropriate traditional regalia, beads, and props, ensuring that performances accurately reflect authentic Ghanaian traditions and royal customs.

Capacity Building for Cultural Patrons: Mavis Asamoah held a briefing session with the school’s cultural patron teachers to discuss effective rehearsal scheduling, costume preservation, and strategies for balancing cultural practice with academic work.
