NADMO INTENSIFIES COMMUNITY SENSITISATION AT ATWEREBOANA, OBONSU AND FONYA
The Adansi South Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), in collaboration with the District Assembly, has extended its community education and sensitisation campaign to Atwereboana, Obonsu, and Fonya.
The exercise aimed at equipping residents with knowledge on disaster prevention, preparedness, and response to help reduce the impact of emergencies within the district. Community members, including opinion leaders and the youth, actively participated in the engagement.
During the sessions, officials educated residents on common disaster risks such as fire outbreaks, flooding, and poor environmental sanitation, as well as measures to prevent them. Emphasis was placed on safe handling of fire and electrical appliances, proper waste disposal, and the need to keep drainage systems clear.
Residents were also encouraged to promptly report disaster incidents to NADMO and other relevant authorities to ensure timely intervention. The importance of community cooperation and vigilance in preventing disasters was strongly highlighted.
The interactive nature of the programme allowed participants to ask questions and share concerns affecting their communities, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
The NADMO Adansi South Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to continuous public education across communities to promote safety and build a resilient and disaster-prepared district.
