Adansi South District Assembly Inspects Ongoing Drilling and Installation of 8 Boreholes with Hand Pumps

ADANSI SOUTH DISTRICT, GHANA — The Adansi South District Assembly has initiated a comprehensive monitoring tour to oversee the ongoing drilling and installation of 8-No. mechanized and hand-pump boreholes across selected rural communities in the district.

The clean water project forms a crucial part of the Assembly’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions aimed at expanding safe drinking water coverage, curbing waterborne diseases, and improving overall public health in underserved areas.

Project Scope & Target Communities

  • Facility Specifications: Drilling, flushing, testing, and fitting of 8 heavy-duty borehole units equipped with durable hand pumps, concrete aprons, and drainage channels.

  • Current Status: Drilling and installation works are actively ongoing across the designated community sites, with technical teams conducting yield testing and water quality assessments.

  • Community Impact: Designed to eliminate long walks for water collection, reduce reliance on unsafe open water sources, and drastically lower the incidence of water-related illnesses among residents.

Advancing WASH Infrastructure and Community Welfare

Speaking during the inspection phase, Assembly representatives highlighted that access to clean, potable water is a fundamental right and a vital component of local economic development. Delivering these water points directly supports women and children by reducing household burden and keeping pupils in school.

The Assembly called on community water and sanitation committees (WATSAN) to prepare for post-installation maintenance to ensure the long-term sustainability of the infrastructure.
