NEW EDUBIASE, ASHANTI REGION — In a direct effort to improve primary healthcare delivery, strengthen rural healthcare networks, and update clinical skills at the grassroots level, the Adansi South District Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has conducted a comprehensive facility engagement and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training session at the Hwidiem CHPS Compound.
The specialized event brought together Community Health Officers (CHOs), community nurses, midwives, and auxiliary healthcare staff serving Hwidiem and surrounding sub-districts. The twin-focused engagement aimed to review operational performance at the Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) level, while simultaneously providing critical capacity-building education to ensure health workers are fully equipped with modern, evidence-based practices.
Driving Healthcare Excellence at the Grassroots
The engagement tackled several high-priority healthcare issues, emphasizing the importance of keeping frontline workers ahead of the clinical curve. Key areas of focus included:

Maternal and Neonatal Health: Training on early identification of pregnancy complications and streamlined referral systems to larger district facilities.

Disease Surveillance & Outbreak Management: Boosting community-level vigilance for infectious diseases and vaccine-preventable illnesses.

Sustaining Professional Standards
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is mandated by the GHS to ensure that rural health practitioners maintain their clinical competencies.
