PRESS RELEASE: HIV SENSITIZATION AND SELF-TESTING CAMPAIGN TO LAUNCH IN 4 HOTSPOT COMMUNITIES (NEW EDUBIASE, ATWEREBOANA,OBONSU & MANANG)

The Adansi South District Assembly, in partnership with the District Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), will undertake an intensive four-day HIV Sensitization and HIV Self-Testing (HIVST) Campaign from Tuesday, 23rd June to Friday, 26th June, 2026.
This collaborative outreach targets six (6) designated high-traffic hotspot communities across the district to increase health awareness, actively combat stigma, and provide free, confidential testing alternatives.

Targeted Timeline: The exercise runs strictly from 23rd June to 26th June, 2026. Special health teams will visit selected communities each day.

Empowering Privacy via Self-Testing: To encourage wider participation and guarantee absolute personal privacy, health officers will distribute certified oral and blood-based HIV Self-Testing (HIVST) kits free of charge. This allows residents to perform the test privately at their own convenience.

Direct Community Engagement: Health promotion officers will lead open community durbars and targeted peer sessions focusing on preventive options, including Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and consistent condom use.

Confidential Linkage to Care: Dedicated counseling teams will accompany the field units to offer instant support, guidance, and direct links to free Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) services for anyone requiring follow-up care.
