IDENTIFICATION AND SELECTION OF 2025 RIPARIAN SITES BY DCWMT

The Adansi South District Agriculture Department, in collaboration with the District Climate-Wise Management Team (DCWMT), has undertaken an exercise for the identification and selection of 2025 riparian sites within the district.

The exercise forms part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the protection of water bodies through the establishment and management of riparian buffer zones.

The technical team visited various communities to assess potential sites based on key indicators such as proximity to rivers and streams, vegetation cover, land use practices, and levels of environmental degradation.

Community members were engaged during the exercise and sensitized on the importance of protecting riparian zones to reduce erosion, prevent flooding, and improve water quality. Farmers were also encouraged to adopt climate-smart agricultural practices that support environmental conservation.

The DCWMT emphasized that the proper selection and protection of riparian areas is crucial for sustaining agricultural productivity and safeguarding natural resources for future generations.

The Adansi South District Agriculture Department remains committed to working with stakeholders to ensure effective environmental management and sustainable development across the district.
