MONITORING REPORT ON COMMUNITY CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTEE (CCPC) ACTIVITIES – ODUMASI
The Adansi South District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has carried out a monitoring exercise on the activities of the Community Child Protection Committee (CCPC) at Odumasi as part of efforts to strengthen child protection systems within the district.
The purpose of the exercise was to assess the Committee’s performance in promoting and safeguarding the rights and welfare of children in line with national child protection policies and guidelines.
The monitoring exercise revealed that the CCPC at Odumasi is actively engaged in community sensitisation on child rights and protection, identification and referral of vulnerable children, reporting of child abuse cases, and collaboration with key stakeholders such as schools, traditional authorities, and Social Welfare officers.
The Committee also contributes to educating parents and guardians on proper childcare practices, school attendance, discipline, and the prevention of child neglect, abuse, and exploitation within the community.
However, some challenges were identified, including limited logistics and inadequate resources, which affect the timely execution of activities and reporting processes.
The Department recommends continuous capacity building, provision of logistical support, and strengthened collaboration among stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of the CCPC.
The Adansi South District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development remains committed to supporting community-based child protection structures to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of all children in the district.
