MONITORING REPORT ON COMMUNITY CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTEE (CCPC) ACTIVITIES – OKYEREKROM
The Adansi South District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has conducted a monitoring exercise on the activities of the Community Child Protection Committee (CCPC) at Okyerekrom as part of efforts to strengthen child protection mechanisms within the district.
The exercise was carried out to assess the Committee’s effectiveness in promoting and safeguarding the welfare and rights of children in the community in accordance with national child protection policies.
The monitoring revealed that the CCPC at Okyerekrom is actively engaged in community sensitisation on child protection issues, identification and referral of vulnerable children, reporting of child abuse cases, and collaboration with key stakeholders such as schools, traditional authorities, and Social Welfare officers.
The Committee also plays a key role in educating parents and guardians on proper childcare practices, school attendance, discipline, and the prevention of child neglect, abuse, and exploitation within the community.
However, some challenges were identified, including limited logistics and inadequate resources, which affect the smooth implementation of certain activities and timely reporting of cases.
The Department recommends continuous capacity building, improved logistical support, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of the CCPC.
The Adansi South District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development remains committed to supporting community child protection structures to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of all children in the district.
