ADANSI SOUTH DISTRICT TO ASSESS THE PROGRESS OF RICE FARMING ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY

FIELD VISIT TO FONYE RICE FARMERS – ADANSI SOUTH DISTRICT

A joint field visit was conducted at Fonye in the Adansi South District to assess the progress of rice farming activities within the community. The exercise brought together officers from the Agriculture Department of the District Assembly alongside the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

The visit aimed to monitor farm development, evaluate current farming conditions, and identify potential risks such as flooding, pests, and other environmental challenges that could affect production. The team interacted with local rice farmers, observed field conditions, and provided technical guidance on improved agronomic practices and climate resilience measures.

Farmers at Fonye were encouraged to adopt best practices in rice cultivation to enhance yield and ensure food security within the district. NADMO also sensitized farmers on disaster preparedness and risk reduction strategies, particularly in relation to weather-related impacts on agriculture.

The Agriculture Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting farmers through continuous extension services, while NADMO emphasized its role in safeguarding livelihoods through early warning and community-based disaster management initiatives.

The visit highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening agricultural productivity and building resilient farming communities in Fonye and the wider Adansi South District.
