Our Social Services

Based on the official register of the Adansi South District Assembly, the following social services are available to residents:

SENSITIZATION AND PUBLIC EDUCATION




We believe that prevention begins with awareness. Our team conducts regular public education programmes to inform communities about their rights, available services, and how to access help.

Visits to basic and senior high schools to educate students on child rights, abuse prevention, and available support

CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Our trained social workers provide direct case management for individuals and families facing social, legal, or emotional challenges.

Description

Child Maintenance

Facilitating and enforcing financial support arrangements for children whose parents are separated or divorced

Paternity

Assisting mothers to establish paternity for child support, inheritance, and identity purposes

Family Welfare

Counseling and mediation for families in conflict, including marital disputes and parent-child issues

Child Custody

Mediation and legal referral for custody disputes; ensuring the best interests of the child

Hospital Welfare

Support for patients and families in distress, including counseling, financial assistance referral, and discharge planning

Referrals

Connecting clients to other departments (health, education, police, legal aid) or external agencies for specialized support

 

COMMUNITY CARE

We provide ongoing support to the most vulnerable members of our society.

Description

Support to LEAP Beneficiaries

Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) cash transfers, monitoring visits, and linkage to other social interventions

Support to PWDs

Registration of persons with disabilities; access to the District Assembly Common Fund for economic empowerment; provision of assistive devices; referral to health and education services

 

 JUSTICE AND ADMINISTRATION

Our department serves as a bridge between vulnerable individuals and the formal justice system.

Preparation of reports, case documentation, and referral of family-related matters (child maintenance, custody, paternity) to the appropriate family tribunal or juvenile court

A: Yes. You do not have to give your name. However, providing contact information helps us follow up more effectively.

Q: What happens after I report child abuse?
A: A social worker will investigate within 24–72 hours. If the child is in immediate danger, the police will be notified right away.

Q: How do I register for LEAP?
A: Visit the Social Welfare Department with proof of income and household size. A social worker will conduct a poverty assessment.

Q: How do I register as a person with a disability?
A: Visit the Social Welfare Department with a medical report from a recognized health facility. You will be issued a disability ID card.

Q: Do I need an appointment to visit the department?
A: No. Walk-ins are welcome during office hours.
